The World Health Organisation defines mental health as:
“a state of wellbeing in which every individual realises their own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to their community.”
At Cottesbrooke Infant & Nursery School, we recognise that mental health and emotional wellbeing are vital to children’s development, learning and happiness — and just as important as physical health.
We are committed to creating a school where:
Everyone feels safe, valued and supported
Children can develop the tools to understand and manage their emotions
Staff wellbeing is recognised and supported
Families are welcomed as partners in wellbeing
We know that life brings different challenges for everyone, and anyone may need help at any time — and that’s okay. Our job is to notice, respond and work together to help each other through.
Promoting positive mental health is a whole-school responsibility, and we all play a part.
If you’re ever concerned about how your child is coping, or if you or your family need extra support, please contact the school office at
