At Cottesbrooke Infant & Nursery School, we actively promote the fundamental British values of:
Democracy
The rule of law
Individual liberty
Mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
We also nurture a set of universal virtues that reflect our inclusive, relational approach to education:
courage, compassion, self-discipline, justice and humility.
These values and virtues are woven into everyday school life — in the way we treat one another, respond to behaviour, resolve conflict, and explore the wider world. Where appropriate, they are explicitly taught through subjects such as PSHE, RE and History.
Actively promoting these values means we also challenge any behaviour or attitude that goes against them — including those rooted in prejudice, disrespect or exclusion.
While staff are not expected to promote beliefs that conflict with their own, it is never acceptable to promote discrimination against any individual or group.
Our shared duty is to create a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment for all.
